About the speaker:
Prof. Li Youping is a well-known expert in electronics and communication technology, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and an outstanding alumnus of Southeast University. He once studied at the Department of Radio Science, Nanjing Institute of Technology (currently Southeast University) from 1953 to 1957, studied at the Radio Department of Tsinghua University from 1957 to 1959 (following the Soviet expert Borisov), and organized the specialty of telemetry and remote control at Chengdu Institute of Telecommunication Engineering (currently University of Electronic Science and Technology of China) from 1959 to 1964. In October 1964, he was transferred to China Academy of Engineering Physics to work on nuclear weapon electronics. He was serving as Director of the Science and Technology Committee of China Academy of Engineering Physics for two consecutive years. In the period, he won the first prize for National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize for National Invention, and the first and second prizes for National Defense Science and Technology. In 1988, he was titled as “Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contribution” by the Ministry of Personnel. In 1999, he was granted the Science and Technology Award of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation. In the same year, he was elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Academician Li Youping returned to his alma mater in March 2011 to establish the Future Network Research Center at Southeast University. Under his leadership, the Center has achieved a series of significant achievements in the development of dual-structure network and the national standard GB/T 35304-2017 for unified content label (UCL), etc..

Academician Li Youping has been engaged in network science research for more than six decades and is still active in the front line of scientific researches. He has devoted himself to researching new network architectures and key technologies since the new century. Fantastic solutions and creative ideas pop up from timeto time, and many constructive insights for China's network development in the future have been proposed meanwhile.
